Resoling

Broken Stud or Worn-Out Soleplate? Resole Your Football Boots Instead of Replacing Them

Lee&Yang, Goyang, Korea ·

Adidas leather football boot before and after resoling: worn studs replaced with a new soleplate

A stud snaps off, or the studs wear down until you slip on every turn. The upper still fits perfectly, and the same model is no longer sold. Before you throw the pair away, know that the whole sole can be replaced. That is called resoling.

Why one broken stud usually cannot be replaced

On most modern boots the studs are molded into the soleplate as one piece. There is no screw thread to take a new stud, so a single broken stud cannot simply be swapped. Glue or epoxy can hold a cracked stud for a few sessions, but it rarely lasts under match loads, and a missing stud changes how pressure hits your foot.

The lasting fix is to remove the whole worn soleplate and attach a new one.

What resoling looks like

Mizuno boot before and after resoling: worn sole replaced with a new black multi-stud sole
The old worn sole came off and a new multi-stud sole went on. The upper you are used to stays the same.
  1. We take off the old outsole and clean the bottom of the upper.
  2. In most boots the midsole is worn or damaged too, so we replace it.
  3. We glue your chosen new sole on and press it firmly in place.

You choose from 19 soles: firm ground (FG), artificial grass (AG), multi-ground (MG), soft ground (SG) with metal studs, futsal, indoor and kids. Each one is shown with real photos and sizes in our replacement sole catalog.

You can change the sole type too

Resoling is also a way to turn one boot into another. Common requests:

  • Firm ground (FG) to artificial grass (AG)
  • Multi-ground (MG) to turf (TF)
  • Football boots to a futsal sole

When we fit a futsal sole, extra stitching on the toe cap is free.

When resoling is worth it

  • The upper is still in good shape and fits you well
  • Leather boots that have molded to your feet
  • A favorite model that is discontinued
  • Glued parts that are separating, which can be re-bonded and reinforced
Adidas Predator before and after: separated upper re-glued and reinforced with a clear overlay
Not every repair needs a new sole. Here a separating upper was re-glued and reinforced with a clear overlay.

If the upper is torn through, send photos first. We will tell you honestly whether it is worth repairing.

What it costs in Korea

  • Resoling, most soles: about US$37 (KRW 50,000)
Kids AG and non-cushioned futsal soles: about US$29 (KRW 40,000)
  • New midsole, needed on most boots: + about US$15 (KRW 20,000)
  • Stiffness reinforcement, for boots whose stiffness comes from the sole: + about US$15 (KRW 20,000) when needed
  • Size adjustment, only together with resoling: Small changes free, bigger changes about US$22 (KRW 30,000)

Most players pay about US$51 (KRW 70,000) for a full resole. Repairs are paid in Korean won, so dollar amounts are approximate. We confirm the exact price from your photos. We reply with a quote within 2 to 4 hours, and the work usually takes 2 to 3 weeks, up to a month in busy periods.

Live outside Korea?

Our workshop is in Goyang, next to Seoul. If you live abroad, message us before sending anything. International shipping both ways can cost more than the repair, so we will help you decide if it makes sense.

Send us photos of your boots.

A side view and the sole are enough for a quote. Pick a sole from the catalog if you already know what you want.
